He was baptized March 12, 1939 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 29, 1953. He attended the Rio Grade School, the Prairie Vista School and Randolph High School. He was called to active duty in Fort Lewis, Washington during the Berlin/Cuban Crisis. On April 8th, 1961 he married Janice Barden and in 1966 they purchased a farm south of Randolph, where they farmed together and raised 3 children.  In 1984 they relocated to Cabool, MO where they continued farming until 2016.  After leaving the farm, they spent 3 years in Mountain Grove, MO where he enjoyed his own fishing pond. Yearly trips were made nearly every fall to Port Washington WI for salmon fishing. In December 2019, they moved to Pardeeville, WI. Bill cherished his time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandsons.

He is survived by his wife Janice of 63 years; son Kenneth Stancer; daughters Audra Cook and Lana Stancer; 2 granddaughters, Leah (Stephen) Bayer and Amanda Cook (Johnny); 2 great grandsons, Abner and Clement; siblings, Karen Wodill, Charles (Sandra) Stancer, Elyn (Erv) Wissbroeker, Joel (Sheryl) Stancer; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
