William Lee Manthey,  age 70, of Rio, passed away at home May 31, 2025 with his wife Judy and daughter Hannah at his side.

Bill was born in 1954 to Lester and Gladys (Schwartz) Manthey.  Bill learned the value of hard work growing up on a dairy farm. He graduated from Rio High School in 1973. After graduating he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas for 3 years. 

Bill married Judy Kuhn in 1983 and their daughter Hannah was born in 1987.

Bill did various jobs in his younger working years. His last 28 working years were spent at Ball Corporation in DeForest, where he was a press operator and a fork lift driver in the warehouse. 

In addition to teaching himself how to do basic plumbing,  carpentry and electrical repairs,  Bill enjoyed riding his Harley, grilling, doing yard work and tinkering in his shed.

Bill is lovingly remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit. Maintaining both until his death. There is so much more about Bill, but at his request, this is brief and simple. Bill is known by many in the community and will be greatly missed.

Bill is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Hannah,  sister Brenda (Tom) Winters, maternal aunt Judy Tietz, sisters in law Margaret (Tom) Lange, Chris (Cal) Geertsma, Heather (Doug) Tessmann,  Sharon (Stu) Quade, brother in law Dan Kuhn, and many cousins,  nieces and nephews. 

Bill was preceeded in death by his parents,  brother Iaw Elden Kuhn, and sister in law Theresa Popelka. 

At Bill's request there will be no service.

The family wishes to thank the Bristol Hospice team for their excellent care, with special thanks to Ami RN and Marissa CNA. Thankyou to the Kuhn family and their spouses for the practical assistance while Bill was ill. Thankyou to Grasse Funeral Service for serving the family.
