William “Hawk” H. Gray, 75 of Pardeeville, raced his last lap Saturday, October 11, 2025, crossing the victory line to be with our Heavenly Father. Bill was born December 29, 1949 to Donald Owen and Mildred Maxine (Craig) Gray in Oregon, WI. 

Bill’s passion was stock car racing and he was a big NASCAR fan. Bill started racing in 1966, with his first car being a 1956 Ford (#17). He raced at many of the local asphalt tracks, taking home numerous wins. Bill retired from racing in 2020. 

Bill and Dawn met at Kwik Trip in 2008. What started as general banter, soon became full of deadpan, obnoxious, exaggerated sarcasm between them. It was then that they knew they had to make the relationship permanent. They were married on December 04, 2013. 

Bill will be forever missed by his wife Dawn; children, Michael (Julie) Gray, Jenifer Gray (Larry Wilkinson), Sara Gray, Joseph Gray (Tracy Hauge), Lucas Hernandez (Lily Arndt), Dacia Rowan, and Danica Rowan; grandchildren, Vera, McKenzie, Joe Jr., and Haley; brothers and sisters Donna Gray, Beth Tschan, Robert Gray (Mary Ellen Bentz), Rick (Michelle) Gray, Russ (Norleen) Gray, Barb (Dave) Koenig, Don (Dawn) Gray, and Jim (Roxanne) Gray. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Mildred Gray, sister Lynn Gray, and brother Steve Gray. 

The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice Care staff for their thoughtful care of Bill in his final months and days. 

Per Bill’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date for his children and grandchildren. There will be no public service.
