Valerie A Hon

Valerie Hon, age 55, of Poynette, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026 at home. She was born December 4, 1970 in Monona,WI to James and Carole Tuschen. 

Valerie married Dale Hon on October 3, 1998, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lodi, Wisconsin. Together they built a life filled with love, family, and shared adventures.

Valerie graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1989. She went on to earn her Bachelor Degree in Nursing from Edgewood College and later her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. Valerie dedicated her professional life to caring for others and was employed as a District Nurse for the Portage School District. Her compassion, leadership, and commitment to student health touched countless lives throughout her nursing career.

She was an active member of the Wisconsin Association for School Nurses, the Wisconsin Organization of Nurse Leaders, the National Association of School Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Valerie enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She loved quilting, sewing, gardening, motorcycling, and snowmobiling. She found joy in creating beautiful quilts, tending her gardens, and spending time outdoors.

Val and Dale truly enjoyed their life together and were the definition of being there for each other for better or worse. They spent their time taking a variety of trips, their favorite being Two Rivers. Motorcycle rides, snowmobile rides, and trying different supper clubs and breweries.

She adored her 2 Alaskan Malamutes, Conan and Reno. Val was a selfless person that always put others needs in front of her own and always was supportive of her fellow nurses and nursing associations. 

Val you will forever be in our hearts and we were all blessed to have you in our lives. We love you forever and always.

Valerie is survived by her husband Dale Hon; parents James and Carole Tuschen; siblings Theresa (Todd), Doug (Sherry), Kris (Randy), Vince (Becky); nieces and nephews Jon, Kevin (Kim), Gracie, Tyler, and Leslie; siblings-in-law Tormey, James (Marlene), Sherry, Don, Lavern, Connie (Dennis); nieces and nephews-in-laws Amy (Wayne), Tom (Stella), Kerry (Jim), Darren (Sarah), Nicole (Aaron), Jason (Kyley Jo), Jamie, Rob, and Lindsay (Marcus). She was preceded in death by her beloved fur babies Conan and Reno; father and mother-in-law James (Gladys) Hon; and sister-in-law Mary Hon.
