Timothy J. Benson

Timothy J. Benson, 81, of Montello, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the Columbia County Health Care Center in Wyocena.  He was born June 30, 1939 in Chicago, IL.  Tim and his wife Rosalie were married April 27, 1963 in Chicago and were happily married for 57 years.  Timothy served in the US Coast Guard Reserves for 8 years.  He was a proud member of the Chicago Pipe Fitters Local 597 for 60 years and a member of the American Legion.  Tim enjoyed living in Montello and working on various golf courses.  He enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, swimming, playing cards, playing cribbage, and of course his beloved Chicago Bears.

He is survived by his wife Rosalie and was the loving father of Timothy (Lisa) Benson, Brian Benson, and Kenneth Benson; beloved papa of Ben and Miranda Benson; dear brother of Patricia Sterling, and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his siblings Robert (Lee) Benson, Carol (Richard) Suhs, John Benson.

Due to current mandates, a private family mass will be held at St. John Baptist Catholic Church in Montello.  A celebration of life will be held in Montello and an inurnment will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL at a later date.
