Steve J. Stangel, 64, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Randolph Health Services after a brief struggle with brain cancer. He was born January 11, 1956 in Michigan, the son of Wilbur and Elaine (Stenzel) Stangel.
Steve was employed for over thirty years as a service writer in the automotive industry. Steve loved and was loved by his customers at Hill Ford where he worked for over 30 years.
He was an outdoors person who loved camping, fishing, walking his dog, traveling, and staying active. He also loved spending time with his family, playing cribbage, a love for music, and was an avid Packer and Badger fan.
Steve is survived by brothers Jim (Carol Broda Stangel) Stangel, Dave (Nancy) Stangel; daughter Jessica (Erin) Walker, fi’ance Jackie Jenkins-Duffy, her son Scott Duffy; grandchildren Hannah and Owen Walker, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 27 at 2 PM at North Scott Baptist Church in Pardeeville with Rev. Matt Brant officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Grasse Funeral Service to be used for funeral expenses. A special thank you to the Golden Care Nursing Center in Randolph and to hospice for all of the compassion and concern they had in caring for Steve.
