Stanford W. Marshall Obituary
Stanford Warren Marshall, 83, of Rio, WI, passed away Monday, September 22nd, 2025, on his family farm, just as he had wished, on the first day of Fall. Born August 30th, 1942, in Dixon, IL, to Earl J Marshall and Ella Seemann Schank, Stan began his educational career at McKinley School, a one-room schoolhouse, and then later transferred to Cambria Union School where he graduated. After graduation, Stan enlisted in the United States Navy with his brother, Dwight.
After returning home from service, Stan was driving through town one day when he saw Mary Neary walking down the street and instantly knew she was the love of his life. They married on August 13, 1966, in Doylestown, WI.
Prior to his long career at Gaskets, Inc., Stan worked at Hylee Farms, People's Telephone Company, and the Columbia County Highway Department. He found his true passion, however, on the family farm he built with his wife, Mary, and their family. On their farm, Stan and Mary helped raise their grandchildren, along with many horses, dogs, and cattle; he also enjoyed working the fields with his Case IH tractors.
Beyond farming, Stan loved snowmobiling and was a member of the Doylestown Sno-Hoppers Snowmobile Club. He also enjoyed boating and hunting with his family. With a natural talent for training and riding horses, Stan and Mary went on to own over 12 Morgan horses that they often rode together while going on many trail rides. If you couldn’t find Stan in the fields, you didn’t have to look too far before hearing old country music and a cold one cracking with some friends in the shop. While always having a prank or two up his sleeve, Stan was known for his loyalty, hard work, quick wit and eagerness to help anyone in need.
Stan is survived by daughter Nicole (John) Marshall- Butterbaugh, son Darrin Marshall (Sherri). Grandchildren Ashlee (Michael) Molzof, Jenna (Morgan) Schissel, Dillon Scott (Payton), Tanner Marshall and Kegan Marshall. Great-grandchildren Hadley and Rylee Molzof, step-brother Jimmy Marshall, sisters- and brothers-in-law Pat (David) McCormick, Bill (Mary Lou) Neary, Beet (Stuart) Brossard, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary (Neary) Marshall, infant son Shawn C. Marshall, parents Earl J. Marshall and Ella (John) Schank, sisters- and brothers-in-law Sandra “Sandy” and Harlan Hendrickson, brother Dwight J Marshall, stepbrother Joey Marshall, mother- and father-in-law Veronica and Edward Neary, along with many beloved relatives and friends.
