A life well lived, Roger Dean Willoughby, born in Rolla, North Dakota (1939 – 2025) sadly passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at his home in Pardeeville, Wisconsin.
Roger graduated from Mechanics Arts High School, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Afterwards he proudly volunteered to join the Marines in 1958, spent his active duty in Okinawa, Japan, then was transferred to the Marine Corps Reserve in 1962, and was honorably discharged in 1964. While in Japan was promoted to the rank of Corporal and received two Good Conduct Medals. Upon his return, he married his first wife, Joyce. Together they raised one son, Jason. He then married his second wife, JoAnn, in 1984. Roger and JoAnn were members of St. Stephens church, where Roger was on the council for 5 years and property manager. They lived in Monona until 2005 when they moved to Pardeeville.
Roger worked for Joe Daniels Construction as a foreman and concrete finisher in Madison for 23 years. Showing his caring nature, Roger was a volunteer firefighter/EMT in both Poynette and Monona for over 20 years. He also volunteered at Three Gaites Therapeutic organization and held a position on the Board of Directors there. At Three Gaites, Roger organized the burn of the old existing buildings and built beautiful new facilities to help the disabled members and horses. He was a proud member of the ELKs Club, where he was honored as ELK of the Month. Along with his many hobbies of avid pool player, trap shooting, fishing, winning several awards, hunting, amazing cook, including his Chili Cook-offs and Of course, there his is love for cribbage.
Roger is survived by his large extended family, children, Jason (Emily – children Austin, Anabelle, Tyler, Lydia), Harold Raymer (Linda - children Brianna, Nicholas) Thomas Raymer (children – Kevin, Ellie), Nancy Raymer (children - Allison and Jessica), Judy Seemann, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn; sister Ida Stevens and stepson Steven Raymer.
Please join us at the Celebration of Life Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. at Grasse Funeral home in Pardeeville to celebrate the amazing life of Roger. Roger will be laid to rest, next to his wife JoAnn in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Warren, Pennsylvania.
Roger was definitely one of a kind. His kindness, generosity, huge heart, sense of humor and love of his family and friends was limitless and will be missed until we meet again.
