Rodney Rex Corliss, 71 of Waunakee, passed away peacefully at his daughter Cary's house surrounded by loving family Friday, October 6, 2023.
Rodney was born in Springfield, Illinois November 5, 1951 amidst a raging snowstorm to Rex and Marie (McMahon) Corliss much to the delight of his sister who desperately wanted a sister, not another brother, and even had her name picked out (Christina Marie) turned out to be Rodney Rex! He was the youngest of the Corliss' kids and was well loved.
As he grew up he developed a very quick wit (the Irish in him), a dry sense of humor and sometimes a wee bit of sarcasm. Rodney served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He became an excellent welder working at John Deere, Horicon for most of his life. In addition to welding his next love was fishing and the tales that went along with it. Rodney loved spending time reading, watching his favorite TV shows, making jewelry and playing video games with his grandchildren and taking long walks while he was still able to do so.
Rodney is survived by his son Joshua; daughters Melissa and Cary (Jimmy); 7 grandchildren, his favorite sister, Karen and sister-in-law Char Corliss. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Roger and Joe.
Graveside services will be held October 21, 11.00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rio.
