Robert E. Odegaard Obituary

Robert “Bob” Odegaard, age 75, of Rio, passed away Friday, January 16,  2026. Robert was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on January 13, 1951, to Josephine (Stelter) Lokken and Robert Odegaard.

Bob attended Madison LaFollette High School, graduating in 1969. He married Jodi Lockwood on February 22, 1992. Bob worked as an electrician for 44 years before retiring in 2013, but continued working part-time, with his most recent position at Bell Ford in Arlington.

Bob was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt and enjoyed attending many NASCAR races. He loved to cheer on the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Brewers, but he most enjoyed watching and coaching his children in sports. Bob’s love for coaching was passed down to his sons; he’d attend many Poynette Puma games, continuing to cheer them on. Bob also loved cheering on his great-nieces as they competed in their sporting events.

The cabin was his happy place, where he cherished relaxing weekends spent on the deck. He especially looked forward to Friday night fish fries at Lisa’s Lakeside and gathering at Family Tradition to watch any sporting event.

Bob was a devoted husband to his wife, Jodi. They shared many adventures, from weekend cabin getaways, UTV rides to local establishments, and warm beachy vacations. They created so many unforgettable memories through deep love and their “Love you to the moon and back” motto. His smile, strength, humor, and kindness were experienced by all that he met.

Robert is survived by his spouse Jodi Odegaard (Lockwood); children Cody (Jessica) Odegaard, Asa (Taylor) Odegaard, Jessica (Eric) Showers, and Aaron (Nikki)Thornsen; sidekick (dog) Woodson; siblings Lynda Schulz, Wes (Pam) Odegaard, Tom (Sue) Odegaard, Dewey (Kristin) Odegaard and half sister Kelly Odegaard; In-law siblings  Don (Sherri) Lockwood, Todd (Donna) Lockwood, Julie (Jon) Doherty and Ken (Deb) Kovalaske; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Josephine Lokken; father Robert Odegaard; step-father Duane Lokken; nephew Joseph Solomon; brother-in-law, Thomas Schulz; mother and father-in-law John and Barbara Lockwood; sister-in-law Jackie Kovalaske and niece Jordan Kovalaske.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Hatley EMS team and the Marathon County Sheriff Department for their rapid response and compassionate care during our time of need.
