Robert Howard Nelson, age 81 of Reedsburg, passed away July 26, 2024. He was born January 17, 1943 in Grand Forks, ND to Robert Nelson and Opal Sunsdahl.

Robert married his wife Bonnie (Krikston) Nelson in Chicago, IL. He attended Kalvin Park High School in IL then he served his country in the Marine Corps, his duty station was in Vietnam, DaNang air base 1st air wing. Robert then worked at Gredes Foundry for 38 years and 5 years doing grounds maintenance for Land’s End. Robert devoted his time to his family and his activities were surrounded by that. He was a Cub Master for cub scouts, a coach for little league baseball, and was very involved with the Reedsburg Outdoors Club. He also volunteered his time at the RACA building for youth hockey. Robert was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, archery, and he also did watercolor painting. 

Robert is survived by his son Scott Nelson; daughter Dawn Sullivan; grandchildren Logan and Brianna Sullivan, and Isabell, Raegan, and Garrett Nelson; sister Opal and Bill Gersey, a lifelong friend of 71 years; sister Sue Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Opal and wife Bonnie.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, September 7 at 11 AM at the Green Wood Cemetery with Pastor R. Willis officiating.
