Robert C. Brewer Jr. went home to be with his Lord on August 24, 2021. Bob was born on January 13, 1927, in Los Angeles, California.
Some of his favorite childhood memories included going to the cinema on Saturday afternoons, and spending his summers swimming at Big Bear Lake and Catalina Island. He attended University High School in Los Angeles, and Santa Monica City College. Bob loved his country and was proud to have served with both the U.S. Occupation Army in Europe and the Marine Corps in Korea. As a veteran, he participated in an Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C., and enjoyed a ride in a World War II era biplane through Ageless Aviation.
Bob married Lois Tyrrell on December 26, 1948, and together they had five children. He and Lois enjoyed taking the family to Huntington Beach on summer Sunday afternoons, where Bob loved to swim in the ocean. Bob’s many hobbies included photography; on holidays, special events and trips, he was rarely without a camera in his hand. He also enjoyed model trains, and built many extensive layouts; for Bob, Christmas wasn’t Christmas without a train under the tree. Most of all, he loved airplanes, both model- and life-size. He spent 42 happy years working for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach. In January 2014, Bob moved to Wisconsin to be near his daughters. He enjoyed seven and a half years at Heritage House in Portage, where he made many friends.
Bob is survived by his children Bill (Gayle), John (Patty), Evelyn (Bill), Phil (Julie), and Sue (Michael), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lois, his parents Robert and Zelma, his sister Peggy, his daughter-in-law Pam, and his birth mother Winifred.
Bob’s family would like to thank Agrace Hospice Care, Dr. Brenda Blohm, and the staff of Heritage House for their loving care of Bob during his final days. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, Thru the Bible Ministry, or Agrace Hospice Care.
