It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of Richard Brian Ruth in his home on January 9, 2025 at the age of 85. Richard was born June 28, 1939, to Anna Viola (Burke) and John Ruth in Dixon, Illinois. 

After graduating from the University of Illinois, he briefly taught history in high school in Naperville, IL. This was followed by moving to New York City to work at Chase Manhattan Bank. After working and living in NYC for many years, he moved to Florida to pursue career opportunities in both banking and human resources. While in Florida, he met, and married Marla (Lindsay) Ruth on April 26,1986. They moved to Pardeeville, Wisconsin with their two daughters, Shauna and Brittany, in 1995 to live on a hobby farm with both sheep and horses. Richard loved to call their homestead “Green Acres” in reference to the old television show. Richard was a devoted father and husband who worked diligently in his profession to provide for his family until he retired at 76 y/o. He particularly enjoyed his last position as Director of Human Resources for Wisconsin Aviation. In 2023, with both of their daughters married and independent, Rich and Marla moved to Fox Lake, WI. Richard was thrilled to become a grandfather for the 1st time when his granddaughter Reagan Claire Jansen was born on August 16, 2024. 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother, Edward Ruth. Richard is survived by his wife Marla; his two daughters Shauna (Jake) Breneman and Brittany (Jake) Jansen; his granddaughter Reagan Claire Jansen; his sister Sharon (Richard) Boward; his brother; and mentor, John (Lucy) Ruth; and many nieces and nephews. 

Richard will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his sense of humor. His loving presence will be missed by all. The family will be holding a private service.
