Reuben Paul Baumgarten, beloved husband, father, grandfather and community member, passed away  June 13, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. He was born November 15, 1952, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, to William and Viola Baumgarten. Reuben grew up in Loganville, Wisconsin, where he developed a strong sense of community and a passion for faith.


Reuben graduated from Webb High School as part of the Class of 1971. On May 12, 1979, he married the love of his life, Annette Buelow, from Mauston, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in LaValle, Wisconsin. Their union was a source of unwavering love and support throughout their lives.


Throughout his life, Reuben remained an active member of the Juneau County Historical Society, deeply committed to preserving and sharing the rich history of his community. His dedication to preserving the past for future generations was commendable and earned him a place in the hearts of fellow members.  Reuben was also a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mauston, where he found solace, inspiration, and a strong spiritual foundation. His commitment to his faith and involvement in the church community served as an example for others.


Reuben will be remembered as a devoted family man. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Annette; children, Daisy (Jason) Becker of Stoughton WI, Amber (Greg) Evenson of Papillion NE, and Travis (Krystle) Baumgarten of Friendship WI; grandchildren, Emma Baumgarten, Mikayla and Malia Becker, they brought immense joy to his life. Reuben's love and support for his family knew no bounds, and his presence will be deeply missed.  In addition to his immediate family, Reuben is survived by his brothers Phillip (Dottie) Baumgarten and Wilbert (Rhonda) Baumgarten, who shared a lifetime of memories and experiences with him. He was also a godfather to Abigail Wilson, who held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Viola Baumgarten. Their memory will live on through the stories and lessons Reuben passed down to his loved ones.


In honor of Reuben's memory, in lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Martin Luther College and the WELS Seminary. These institutions were close to his heart and represent his dedication to education and the preservation of faith.


Reuben Paul Baumgarten will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and community. His contributions to local history and his commitment to his faith have left an indelible mark on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.


Visitation will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 from 4 to 7 PM, at Grasse Funeral Home in Reedsburg. A private family service and interment will be held.
