Mary Ann Stockwell Obituary
Mary Ann Stockwell passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025 in Baraboo, WI at the age of 76. She was preceded in death by her parents Elfreida (Moll) and Leonard Stockwell.
The Stockwell’s were a farming family and Mary was a true farm girl who understood Wisconsin agriculture well. She knew the right time to plant and harvest crops and could tell you more about the weather than a meteorologist. Mary was a sweet soul and a wonderful daughter who devoted herself to helping “Ma” and “Pa” in their later years.
Mary will be remembered for her infectious laugh and generosity as well as crafting materials next to her chair. You never left her home without flowers, vegetables or something she crafted. She could craft something out of nothing and gave away countless gifts she had made. Crocheting scarves, hats and Afghan blankets was also a favorite pastime.
People who called Mary a friend understood her quirky ways. She would always say what was on her mind and didn’t beat around the bush. She was admired for her directness, frugality, positive outlook and strong advice.
When Mary left the farm she lived in Our House Senior Living in Portage, WI. until her death. A very special thank you to the staff for their endless patience and daily assistance with her care. There will be a future commemorative gathering at the facility for the residents and staff who knew her. You will be missed, Mary, and your parents will welcome you with open arms.
