Mary A. (Monthey) Bush

Loving wife and mother, Mary A. (Monthey) Bush passed away November 13, 2023, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, WY at the age of 86. Mary was born on July 3, 1937, in Columbia County, WI to George and Lura (Killoran) Monthey. 

Mary lived a long and adventurous life. At the age of 12, after the death of her mother, she lived with her sister and brother-in-law. It was there she fell in love with her brother-in-law’s brother Charles (Chuck) Bush. Chuck and Mary were married on August 20, 1955. Within a couple of months, Mary joined Chuck on his Army tour to Germany. They rented 2 rooms in the house of an elderly German couple. While in Germany they took advantage of the opportunity to travel throughout Europe and within a short time, they became busy young parents with their first child Sandra when they discovered they were going to have twins.  

Shortly after the twins were born Chuck was discharged from the Army and they moved back home to the Portage/Pardeeville, WI area. Chuck got a job as Manager of the Sears Catalog store in Portage. This began the journey of many relocations, including; the upper and lower peninsula of Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and finally ending in Wyoming. Wyoming was always the main objective as hunting, traveling and camping have always played a big part in their lives.  

Mary enjoyed all of her outside employment, both part-time and full-time positions. She loved baking, sewing, gardening, and most of all her loving husband. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this past August still holding hands and kissing each other often. The retirement years were filled with hunting elk, deer, and antelope. They continued traveling including the big RV trip to Alaska for most of the summer. For years they spent the Wyoming winters in the RV on their lot in Texas near the Rio Grande.  

Mary is survived by her husband, Charles Bush; daughters Sandra Bush (Clarence Arnold) of Cheyenne, Deborah (Denny) Kroeger of Eldridge, Iowa, and Deanna Sherby (Keith Vandermeir) of Carol Stream, IL; 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lura Monthey; four brothers, Bernard, Owen, Don, and Harold; sister, Norma (Russell) Bush.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 22 at 11 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Pardeeville with Father Joji Reddy presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
