Margo J. Pufahl Obituary

Margo (Walker) Pufahl, of Pardeeville, passed away peacefully September 1, 2024.  She was born March 6, 1946 in Poynette to Phyllis Walker. She was raised and ultimately adopted by her grandparents Grace (Spiegler) and Harold Walker. She graduated from Poynette High School and Madison Business College where she received her Certified Professional Secretary certification. 

Margo was employed as an Executive Administrator  at Oscar Mayer Foods for over 33 years before her retirement in 1999. After two years she returned to the workforce and spent 14 years at United Community Bank (now Bank First). 

She married Barry Pufahl in 1979 and moved to Pardeeville where they made their lives for over 40 years. Margo was the organist at the Poynette Presbyterian Church from the age of 14 and also directed the choirs and served as a ruling elder in the church. She served a term as Pardeeville Village Trustee and was a member of the Pardeeville School Board and Pardeeville’s public library board.  An avid curler, Margo served as  president of the women’s organization and the combined club as secretary/treasurer. She was the Poynette Girls Curling coach, with two teams winning the State Championships.  She later coached with husband Barry in Pardeeville. 

She enjoyed gardening, curling, knitting and music of all kinds. Margo was a member of the Pardeeville Lions Club and played saxophone for the Dual County Community Band, playing summer concerts on the lawn. 

Margo is survived by her loving husband Barry; four step-children, Michele (Bill Schneider), Jeff (Maria), Mike (Pam Bilotti), and Jennine (Steve Giles); 8 grandchildren (Harrison, Benjamin, Owen, Nolan, Henry, Mira, Nicolas, and Amelia). She is further survived by two sisters, Cathy Johnson and Yvonne (Jim) Frei; brothers Harold Babcock and Bob Tomlinson (Carol);  9 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents Harold and Grace Walker, birth mother Phyllis Babcock, uncles Robert and Dean Walker, aunt Iris Spiegler, and  brother Terry Babcock. 

A memorial service will be held, Wednesday September 11 at 11 AM at the Poynette Presbyterian Church.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 10, from 4 to 7 PM at Grasse Funeral Home in Pardeeville and again from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pardeeville Public Library or the Poynette Presbyterian Church.
