Lester H. Neubauer, 95, of Wyocena/Westfield, was called to his heavenly home Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Columbia Healthcare Center. He was born September 16, 1924 in Watertown, the son of Herman and Loretta (Scobe) Neubauer.
He was baptised into the Christian Faith October 30, 1924 by Rev. F.E. Stern and confirmed April 10, 1938 by Rev. Kurt Timmel in Watertown. After graduating from Watertown High School, Lester was drafted into the Army during WWII. He served the 84th Infantry Division in Holland and Germany until he was honorably discharged in October 1945. He was united in marriage to Shirley J. Ninke June 29, 1946 at Golgotha Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, by Rev. Gottfried Kempf. Lester served on the school board and as a member of the church board at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. When he moved to Westfield, he was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
He worked for Smith Engineering and Kenzler Engineering before moving to Lawrence Lake near Westfield. Lester and his family operated the Gamble Store in Endeavor before retirement. He was a member of the American Legion in Westfield and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include two sons Gary (Ruth) Neubauer of Lodi and Alan Neubauer of Westfield; grandson Wade (Kristina) Neubauer; granddaughter Andrea (Jamie) McMahon; great grandchildren Aidan and Evelyn McMahon and Colt and Athena Neubauer; one sister Lorraine Hady of MI, and other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley of 44 years July 21, 1990; sister Gladys Timple; brothers Victor and Harvey, and special friend Grace Thalacker.
A memorial service with social distancing guidelines and mask requirements will be held Monday, August 17 at 7 PM at Grasse Funeral Home, 119 Industrial Drive, Pardeeville. Visitation will be held from 5 PM until the time of service. Lester’s earthly remains will be committed and await the resurrection at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in New Berlin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice or the Columbia Healthcare Center in Wyocena. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Columbia Healthcare Center for the care they provided to Lester.
