Lawrence (Larry) Dean Pickett, age 68, of Middleton, WI, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.   

Larry was born on March 2, 1957, in Madison, WI, the 6th of 9 children. He attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and graduated from Madison West High School. Larry was part of a group of lifelong friends who called themselves the Zero’s. The times spent with his “brothers” over all the years meant the world to him.  

After High School Larry took many classes that interested him. Our family lovingly referred to him as “the professional student,” a reflection of his endless curiosity and love of learning. He worked in construction for many years, taking great pride in his craftsmanship and in building things that would last. He was a perfectionist. He approached every project with care, patience, and attention to detail. Larry will be remembered for his big heart, generosity, calm presence, honesty, helpfulness, humility, and caring nature. He had a quiet sense of humor, a strong faith, and an unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Eileen Pickett; his brothers, Jim and Jack Pickett; his sister-in-law, Debbie Pickett; and his nephew, Jesse Pickett. Larry is survived by his siblings Gary (Kathy) Pickett, Lee (Denise) Pickett, Scott (Kathleen) Pickett, Mary (Dave) Copper, Tom Pickett, and Marlene (Troy) Pauls; He is also survived by his close friend Sheri Pauer Marshall (Darrin Marshall) and her daughter Alicia (Dave) Applin. Sheri was instrumental in Larry’s care over the past 8 years, providing love, patience and unwavering support. This brought a great deal of comfort to Larry and our family. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Madison, WI. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Larry’s Life at 12:30 at Louisianne’s, 7464 Hubbard Avenue, Middleton, WI. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Center, alzheimersinfo.org, in Larry’s honor.
