Kenneth Reinfeldt, age 87, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison after a short illness. He was born on December 19, 1938, in Wonewoc, Wisconsin, the son of Herbert and Sylvia (Bryant) Reinfeldt.

After graduating from high school, Ken proudly served in the United States Army. On March 27, 1964, he married Shirley Rosenbalm in Baraboo. In his early years, Ken worked with his brother at Humphrey Tree Company, then at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant and for the City of Reedsburg. He later spent 22 years as a truck driver for Ray Zobel's & Son before retiring.

Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was fortunate to travel throughout the western United States, Canada, and Alaska with those he loved. A devoted sports fan, he especially loved football and took great pride in watching his nephew play in the NFL, as well as cheering on his grandsons during their high school and college football careers. When football season ended, he faithfully watched UConn women's basketball, always willing to bet anyone that UConn would come out on top.

Ken was also a sneaky-good euchre player, often winning a hand with only one trump card. During retirement, he and Shirley spent many summers camping at Camp Holiday in Boulder Junction. An excellent fisherman, Ken always told his grandsons, "If anyone asks where we were fishing, tell them Banana Lake." The joke, of course, was that there is no Banana Lake.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his eight brothers and sisters; and other beloved relatives.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley, of Reedsburg; his children, Penny (Todd) Schrank, Joe (Diane) Reinfeldt, and Marjorie (Rick) Riggs; four grandsons, Josh (Jessica) Fleming, Cody Schrank, Travis (Carli Nelson) Reinfeldt, and Matthew (Abby) Reinfeldt; three great-granddaughters; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved beagle, Sara Lee.

Graveside services will be held at St. Johns Cemetery, Rock Springs on Thursday, August 6, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating. A luncheon will follow at Grasse Funeral Home, 312 N. Park Street, Reedsburg.

The family extends a special thank you to his neighbor, Deb, for taking care of Sara Lee and to the staff of SSM Palliative and Hospice Care for their kindness and compassionate care.

As Sister Georgeann from SSM Hospice told Ken’s family, "Tomorrow is not promised. Live today to the fullest."
