Kalton J. Bauman

Kalton J, Bauman, 69 of Markesan, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born July 19, 1953 in Ripon, the son of A. Bernard and Wanda (Payne) Bauman.

Kalton graduated from Markesan High School in 1972 and graduated from the Farm Industry short course at U.W. Madison in 1975. He was united in marriage to Sheryl Ann Appenzeller July 14, 1979 on her family farm near Ripon. They just celebrated their 43rd anniversary last July and their marriage was blessed with two children. Kalton farmed the home farm near Marquette for his entire life and for the past 30 years ran Bauman’s Natural Meats and Catering.

Kalton always placed God, family, and farm as his top priorities. His legacy of hard work and helping others will live on through his children and grandchildren. He was involved on many boards throughout the years, serving on the Deacon board for Ripon Assembly of God Church and The Rio Family Life Center. He also served on the Green Lake County Pork Producers, Farm Bureau Young Farmers, and the Farmer’s Market Boards for Hilldale and East Side of Madison. He also enjoyed hunting, farming, and being with his grandchildren. 

Survivors include wife Sheryl of 43 years; son Kalton Michael (Jennifer) Bauman; daughter BobbiJo Anna (David) DeGolyer; six grandchildren, Mathias Kalton, Zander Allen, and Sterling Lincoln Weber, Kloie Allier and Kimberlyn Ann Bauman, and Vida Josephine DeGolyer; sister Bonnie Marousek; brother Barry (Ann) Bauman, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother B. Kent Bauman; sister-in-law Eileen Bauman, and brother-in-law Howard Marousek. 

Memorial service will be held Sunday, May 7 at 4 PM at The Family Life Center N3974 Williams Rd, Rio with Rev Thomas Edwards officiating. A reception will follow. Visitation will be held from 2 PM until the time of service at the church. Private family burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Marquette.
