Joyce M Johnson Obituary

Joyce M Johnson Obituary

Joyce Mary Johnson (nee Betts) passed away peacefully October 22, 2025. She was born June 17, 1941 in Portage to Floyd and Mary Betts.

Joyce graduated from Montello High School in 1959, the town where she grew up and built lifelong friendships. In 1962, she married Alvin Johnson, and together they welcomed two sons, Robert (March 1963–March 1964) and Jeffery, born in 1969. Though Joyce and Alvin later separated in 1980, they shared many meaningful years together.

As a young woman, Joyce found great joy in singing with the choir at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Montello. She dedicated much of her career to caring for others through her work with the ARC and Respite Care of Columbia County. Joyce truly enjoyed her time there. She loved the people she worked with, and they loved her in return.

In her quieter moments, Joyce enjoyed reading, watching television, and cheering for her beloved Green Bay Packers. She will be remembered for her kindness, her warmth, and the genuine care she showed to everyone around her.

Joyce is survived by her son Jeffery; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Robert; and former husband Alvin. Jeff would like to thank the caring staff at the Columbia Healthcare Center, Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital, and Agrace Hospice for their care of mom.

A memorial service will be held at a later date next spring.
