John Francis Stuchlik, 82 of Windsor, died January 22, 2023 at Waunakee Manor. He was born April 1, 1940 in Chicago, IL to John J. and Margaret M. (Suleckey) Stuchlik.
John served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963 on both the Great Lakes and the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. In 1966, he married Dianne M. Neibauer in Glidden, WI. He retired from Mendota Mental Health Institute in 2001 following a 37 year career.
John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was especially fond of duck hunting. Fishing for bass was also a favorite and proved both challenging and rewarding. The true beneficiaries were his family as the years of harvest provided countless delicious meals. John also enjoyed tremendously, the hobby of photography, especially in nature. It is to the credit of his good friend, Norm, that he was introduced to this art. His photographs happily adorn the walls of his home and that of his family’s homes. Another favorite hobby was knife making. He created many beautiful and useful knives which were also gifted to numerous friends and family.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years; daughter, Laura (Brent) Schuster; son, John (Ursula) Stuchlik Jr.; brothers, Jim Stuchlik, Joe Stuchlik, Craig (Mary Ann) Stuchlik, and Paul (Colleen) Stuchlik; sisters, Winnie (Bill) Schumann, and Connie Dolajeck. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other family. John was preceded in death by his mother and father; step-mother, Jean Stuchlik; brother-in-law, Craig Dolajeck, and his beloved dog Pepper, whom he fondly called “my buddy”.
