John C. Lex, age 62 of Reedsburg, passed away Wednesday October 25, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after an 8-year battle with prostate cancer. He was born September 6, 1961 in Madison, the son of Norbert and Betty Lex.
He married Mary Ellis April 25, 2014, in Sauk County. He attended St. Dennis Elementary School and graduated from Lafollette High School. He worked in the elevator trade as a technician for 42 years, most recently for Schindler Elevator after closing his own Lex Elevator. John was a proud member of the Elevator Constructors Union, Local 132.
Hockey was a big part of John’s life. He had a wonderful talent for playing. He played for Eastside Hockey, and Lafollette High School and ended his career playing for the Philadelphia Flyers. He enjoyed flying single engine planes and any kind of home improvement projects, as he could build and fix anything, and anything he could use his John Deere tractor for. He loved living out in the country and would help anyone with anything. John will forever be remembered for his amazing sense of humor and quick wit.
He is survived by his wife Mary; daughters, Maggie (Angel) Lopez, Trisha Magel (Shane Hughes), and Brandi (Mario) Andino; granddaughters, Vaeda and Aria; brothers, Steve (Jan Merten), Bob (Cindy Zaemich), Brian (Vickie), and Tom (Karen); sisters, Joan Nowak, Patti Lex; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
