Joan M. Taylor, age 81 of Rio, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, June 1, 2024. She was born October 8, 1942 in Madison to Harold and Frieda (Arnold) Hanson.

Joan married Joseph Taylor May 31, 1965. She received her nursing license through MATC. Joan worked at the Mendota Mental Health Institute much of her career. She was a member of the Bonnet Prairie Women of the church. She enjoyed flowers and watching the hummingbirds and orioles. Joan loved to spend time with her grandchildren. 

Survivors include her son Joe Taylor of Rio; daughter Jill Taylor of Rio; grandchildren Cody Meixner, Kaylee Meixner (Shandon), Christian DeGroff (Rainia), Cole DeGroff (Ariana), Amanda Thompson, Sara Cross, and Jessie Thompson; 6 great grandchildren; sister Kitty Garfoot; and brother Vadney Hanson (Nickie). She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Joseph.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 11 AM at Bonnet Prairie Church in Rio with Pastor Bob Moberg officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until time of service Saturday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, to be used in memory of Joan.
