Janet C. Jevens Obituary

Janet Clare (nee Price) Jevens, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away December 10, 2023.  She was a graduate of Rio High School, and attended UW-LaCrosse, where she received a bachelor’s degree in education.  She married husband Gerald (Jerry) Jevens July 11, 1959.  Janet taught at Rio Elementary for the entirety of her teaching career.  After retiring from teaching, she had a short career in real estate, and also worked as a travel agent.  Her love of travel took her and Jerry many places with family and friends, camping throughout the United States and traveling to Europe. She and Jerry also loved to dance, attending polka festivals throughout the Midwest.

Janet was a devoted wife and mother, raising her three sons with Jerry in their home on Traut Road west of Rio.  Janet was a proud resident of Rio and although she lived in the country with Jerry, she was “in town” several times a week to visit family or friends. She was an avid quilter and an active member of the Red Hat Society.

Janet is survived by sons Christopher, Curtis (Kristy), and Andrew (Tess); four grandchildren, Christopher’s children Ashli (Jordan) Volk and Jordan (Quinn) Jevens, Curtis’s children, Kiera Jevens and Carter Jevens; two great granddaughters, Jaelynn Rae Jevens and Thea Clare Volk; and great grandsons Emmet Jevens and Hiro Volk. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, mother Victoria, father John, brother Kenneth, sister Helen, and great grandson, Jerry Allen Jevens.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 16 at 11 Am at Grasse Funeral Home in Rio with Rev. Jack Way officiating. Inurnment will follow at Ohio Cemetery in Rio. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of service.
