Jane E. Kaiser (née Johnson), age 78, lost her long and courageous battle with cancer, heart disease and renal disease January 8, 2024 and went to join her husband and best friend in her Father’s heavenly kingdom, a reunion that she longed for since Bob’s death in 2006.
Jane was born at Truax Field in Madison, Wisconsin September 4, 1945 to Orton L. and Signe L. (Nygaard) Johnson while her father was overseas in the Army. It would be months before her father knew she was born. On November 4, 1967 Jane married Robert A. Kaiser. They were blessed with two beloved daughters. First and foremost Jane was a woman of faith who knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Her strength, grit and fortitude demonstrated her trust in her loving God. Little did she know that she would need those qualities when in one fourteen month period she lost six of her loved ones including her husband, both of her parents and (perhaps the most heartbreaking) one of her daughters and two of her five grandchildren.
Jane graduated from Portage High School in 1963 and both Bob and Jane kept regular contact with the special Class of 1963 throughout their lives. She began her career working for Harkins Eye Clinic in Portage Wisconsin until she and Bob started a family. Her affection for the Harkins family remained strong long after she no longer worked there. Jane also worked for Geneva Laboratories in Elkhorn Wisconsin. Her value as an employee was acknowledged when she and Bob returned to Portage and they had her work from her home.
Jane was loved by many who admired her in several ways. Her smile and fierce loyalty to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was like none other. People welcomed her outlook that was sometimes referred to as “rose colored glasses” that others wish they had. Jane was tremendously proud of her Norwegian heritage and her family in Norway will miss her deeply.
Jane is survived by her beloved daughter, Kimberly K. Ingram (Brett), Pardeeville, Wisconsin; grandchildren Logan Ingram and Lexie (Alexandra Jane) Ingram, also of Pardeeville. She is further survived by great granddaughter, Annabelle Lee and great grandson, Beau Liam also of Oshkosh. She is further survived by a sister, Janet Van Epps and sister-in-law, Barbara Kaiser both of Portage, Wisconsin. Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Kaiser; parents Orton & Signe Johnson; mother and father-in-law Phillip & Ellen Kaiser; brother-in-law Donald Kaiser; daughter, Karri A. Maier; granddaughter, Samantha K. Maier; and grandson, Brian P. Maier. Jane shares this verse of Scripture: Pressing on Toward the Goal: Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heaven-ward in Christ Jesus.
Funeral service will be held Monday, January 15 at 11 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Portage with Rev. Rod Armon officiating. Interment will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church Monday.
