James Brandt Obituary

James (Jim) E. Brandt, 84, of Reedsburg passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on March 1, 2023 at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center.  He was born on August 24, 1938 in the town of Ironton, Sauk County, the son of Maynard and Agnes (Gasser) Brandt.  Jim was a 1956 graduate of Webb High School and a veteran of the US Army.

Jim was an electrician and went into business with his brother Larry and friend Vic Mcdermont in 1967 when they started Service Electric in Reedsburg.  He worked as an electrician for Service Electric until he retired in 2003.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling and was a corvette enthusiast.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his life long partner Heidi Geils, sons, Craig Brandt (Jodi Statz),  Jamie (Tonya) Brandt; sisters Mary (Larry) McGinley of Platteville, Joann (Jerry) Laufenberg of Urbana, IL and Vera (Clinton) Mihlbauer of LaValle and sister-in-law Joan Brandt of  Reedsburg; grandchildren Shania (Aaron) Grode, Carsen, Caden and Kate. Many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Larry Brandt.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held from 1:00 until 4:00 on Saturday, April 15th , 2023 at Summit Ridge Restaurant, N795 WI Hwy 58, rural LaValle.
