James A Walker Obituary

James (Jim) Arnold Walker, a lifelong resident in Kingston, WI passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Markesan Resident Home. He was born May 1, 1933 to Melvin and Helen (Jewett) Walker. 

He graduated from Markesan High School class of 1951. On May 3,1952 he was united in marriage to Roberta Schwartz. She preceded him in death June 13, 2023. Jim had missed her every day since and is now reunited with her. Jim was a devoted member of the Kingston Methodist Church finding solace and strength in his faith. He started shearing sheep in 1949 at the age of 16 with his dad and sheared with him for over 40 years, retiring his shears in 2003. Jim sheared at over 300 farms in Wisconsin where he developed many close friends. He also took home first place 14 times in the Wisconsin State Fair shearing contest. Woodworking was another talent of his. He built Rosanna, Cally and Lance’s houses along with others. Many handmade projects were made in his workshop and all of his children and grandchildren have a piece to remember him by. After retiring Jim and Roberta spent their winters in Las Vegas enjoying their gambling and just being together. Jim and Roberta enjoyed coffee at the Wayside Restaurant with friends. Wherever Jim would go, he knew someone or did by the time he left. 

Jim is survived by his children Gary (Jan) Walker, Cally (Bill) Hunter, Lance (Teresa) Walker and Rosanna (Dana) Wendlandt. He was a proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren, Corey (Kim) Hunter, Chad (Jenee) Hunter, Jennifer (Paul) Schwandt, Kendelle Wendlandt, Ryan (Kayla) Wendlandt, Josh (Jennifer) Walker, Jeremy Walker, Jason (Leah) Walker and Ann (Nick) Walker.; twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great granddaughters; and sisters, Barb (Gordy) Luedtke, Lorraine Steffen, Tooty( lynn) Whitehouse. Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife Roberta; parents Melvin and Helen Walker; brother Donald; infant daughter; grandson Jady Hunter and his great-grandson Peter Mittenzwei. Jim cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great great granddaughters. He was proud of every one of them. 

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 12:00 P.M at Grasse Funeral Home in Pardeeville, 119 Industrial Dr. A visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M until the time of service on Saturday.  

The family would like to thank Meals on Wheels Green Lake County, Hospice and especially the employees of the Markesan Resident Home. It’s hard when you have to go to a nursing home but they made it feel like he was surrounded by friends. Thank you.
