Ida Stremcha, age 98, of Sun Prairie passed away Monday, October 14, 2024 at UW Madison East Hospital. She was born January 14, 1926 in Chatfield, Fillmore County, MN to Violet (Davidson) and John Delbert Crowson.
Ida married Robert Bornfleth and later Wenzel Stremcha. She began her career as a waitress in Illinois and Minnesota by bringing joy to countless customers. After moving to Wisconsin, she worked in the school cafeteria and managed the UW Press Box Food counter for many years. Later in life, she found fulfillment in personal care and catering, sharing her passion for food with Marjens in McFarland and Karen’s Cafe in Rio. In her final years, Ida cherished the friendships she formed at Colonial View Apartments, where she considered her neighbors to be family. Ida loved to read and cook for her family.
She is survived by her daughter Deanne (Tom) Booth; daughter Virgina (Joe) Hanifl; son Wendell Stremcha; daughter Mary (Tom) Knoebel; and daughter Kathy Stremcha; brothers Ross and Gary Crowson; and sister Brenda Adler; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers; a daughter, a son; and 2 grandsons.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11 AM at Grasse Funeral Home in Rio. Visitation will be held at 10 AM until the time of service. Inurnment will be taken place at the Ohio Cemetery.
