Ida LaGosh Obituary

Ida Viola (Montibeller) LaGosh, age 98, of Pardeeville, WI, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2024.
“Vi” was born on December 13, 1925, in Milwaukee, WI to Joseph and Leah Montibeller, who were Italian immigrants. She married Joseph LaGosh in 1942 before he was shipped off to serve in the Pacific during WW2. Upon his safe return, they built a home together in Menomonee Falls, WI. They had 3 children, Joseph (passed 2009), James “Jimmy” (passed 1999), and Janet, who died at birth.
Vi was a wonderful homemaker and mother to her boys. She also worked many years as a produce buyer for the Kroeger Company. She had numerous friends and a big Italian family nearby that got together regularly, but in 1989, she moved to Pardeeville to live closer to her son, Joe. She enjoyed life to its fullest, traveling yearly to Florida to visit friends and even visiting Italy and Hawaii when she was in her 80’s. She loved going to The Fireside Shows and other musicals. She even got a puppy to keep her company when she was in her 90s.
Vi was still living on her own and driving until age 97. Everywhere she would go people could not believe her actual age. She had quite a sense of humor when it came to her age. She would brag about living longer than the Queen of England and would jokingly tell her grandchildren, “Only the good die young, so I must be bad”.  She was still as spunky as ever, watching the Packers play every Sunday and having a glass of wine. She was known for her great cooking, baking, and love of gardening. She enjoyed reading and would have us go to the library weekly to keep her stocked up with books. She was a faithful Christian her entire life and on one of her last trips to church, she rode with a special friend in her convertible with the top down.
But her greatest love was her family. They were her pride and joy. Nothing was more important to her. She always told people, “I don’t know what I would do without my girls”.
Vi is survived by her 3 special granddaughters and their families. Laura (Kelly) Rollin of Green Bay, Lisa (Tim) Francis of Pardeeville, and Leeann (Dexter) Busse of Greenleaf. She was a great-grandmother to Joey, Jake, Jenna, Tyler, Abbey, Hunter, Mason, and Aaleigh, and a great-great-grandmother to Camila and Breelyn. She is further survived by many other extended/step-family members and close friends.
A celebration of life service will be on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Grasse Funeral Home in Pardeeville, WI at 2 PM. Visitation, with refreshments, will be at 12:30 PM until the time of service. A private burial will be at the Wisconsin Memorial Park in Milwaukee.
