Harvey F. Myers Obituary

Harvey F. Myers, age 94, of Reedsburg, passed on to his heavenly home Thursday, April 3, 2025.

Harvey was born on October 12, 1930, the fourth Harvey in line. He was the son of Harvey A. and Hilda (nee Dettmann) Myers, in North Freedom, WI. He attended the North Freedom Grade School for eight years and then attended Baraboo High School, being the first class to do so after the North Freedom High School closed. He began farming after high school for neighbors in the area. 

On August 23, 1958, he married Carol (nee Thieding) Myers and they farmed all of their lives on Carol's home farm near Loganville. 

Harvey was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Loganville, where he served on the church council, served on the Reedsburg Farmers Coop Board of Directors for  many years and was a member of the Town of Westfield governing board for three years and Chairman for eleven years. He also served on the Webb Ag Advisory Board. He graduated from the first class for Young Farmers at MATC, Reedsburg and graduated with state graduates at the Coliseum, Madison. He was 4-H Dairy leader for Loganville Friendship 4-H Club. 

Besides dedicating his whole life to farming and being open to new and improved ways in farming, he was proud of owning antique tractors. He enjoyed traveling and among the most memorable was his trip on a large Navy AirCraft Carrier from Hawaii to San Diego with his son. He made memorable trips with friends to Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, and also Ireland. 

He served on several mission trips to repair homes after Katrina hit New Orleans, and a flood hit Lebanon, TN. He worked on six homes in partnership with other builders of homes for Habitat for Humanity in Sauk County.

He is survived by his children David (Sheila), Myers, WA, Darrell (Mary) Myers, Reedsburg, Audrey (Howard) Ogden, Loganville; Grandchildren Joshua (Jennifer) Myers, NM, Jeremy, Baraboo, Kevin (fiance Heather) Reedsburg, Justin (Vanessa), Appleton, Brooke DuBois, Chippewa Falls, Brittany Ogden, Loganville, great-grandchildren Gavin, Elijah, and Raegen; Also surviving are Sister-in-laws Delores Wetterer and Gloria (friend Ted) Thieding. Other survivors are several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol; sister Norene Koenig; Sister-in-law Joan Thieding, Brother-in-laws Carl Koenig and Michael Wetterer. 


Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Loganville, WI. with the Rev. Peter Bredlau at 11:00 A.M. officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 9 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M at Grasse Funeral Home and again on Thursday at 10:00 A.M at Church until the time of service. Interment will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the St. Peters Church or the American Red Cross.
