Harold Fredrick Speich, age 74, peacefully entered his eternal home Thursday, May 1, 2025, surrounded by family, after a brief battle with dementia.

Harold was born to Fredrick and Lucille (Heitman) Speich, December 15, 1950, joining his siblings, Earl, Robert, Doris, and Arleen, on the family farm outside of Reedsburg. 

Harold was a 1969 graduate of Webb High School in Reedsburg. He spent his entire life enjoying life on the farm, first with his family, and then farming on his own after the passing of his parents in 1997 and 2008, respectively.

Harold took pride in the farm and spent many hours on his lawn mower keeping things tidy. He enjoyed looking at his flowers each summer and took pride in the fact that his geraniums were overwintered each year.

Harold was a friend to many and earned the nickname “Smiley” because of his sunny disposition. He was generous beyond measure to those he called friends and to many charities over the years — but was known to not share his Ruffles! He was also known to have a sweet tooth and loved the cookies that family made for him.

Harold is survived by his sister Doris Meulemans of West Bend; sisters-in-law Cecelia Speich and Betty Speich both of Reedsburg; and long time friend Roger Ludlow of Kenosha. He is further survived by several nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Earl and Robert; his sister Arleen Speich; brother-in-law Jerry Meulemans; and a nephew.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hillpoint with Pastor Conrad Prell officiating. Interment will be held at Tuckertown Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to support the Fredrick and Lucille Speich Memorial Scholarship at the Reedsburg Educational Foundation, 510 K St. Reedsburg, WI, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
