Gerald “Jerry” E. Decot, age 79, passed away Friday, September 19, 2025. He was born July 14, 1946 to Theodore “Ted” and Gladys (Hendrickson) Decot.

Jerry graduated from Rio High School in 1964 and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from September 1965 to September 1969. A Vietnam Veteran, he carried his sense of duty, discipline, and pride throughout his life.

On August 5, 1967, Jerry married the love of his life, Helene (Vandre), in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Their marriage was a true partnership, rooted in deep love, loyalty, and shared adventure.

Jerry was the proud owner of Decot Center City Upholstery, where he applied his skill and eye for detail to reupholstering furniture—especially antiques—and more recently, basketball score table pads. 

A man of many passions, Jerry enjoyed playing horseshoes and bowling, as well as spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He also had a love for the open road, often found on his motorcycle enjoying the ride.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Helene; sons Evan (Jina) Decot of Pardeeville and Jonathan Decot of Rio; grandson Zachary Decot of Pardeeville; granddaughter Hannah Decot and great grandson Wade Todd of Portage; brother Eugene “Gene” Decot of Waunakee; special friend Dan McCormick; and other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son; sister Annette Lalor; infant brother Gene Carroll Decot; twin infant sisters Georgette Jeanne and Charlotte Elleen Decot; and infant sister Gloria Mae Decot.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. at the Grasse Funeral Home in Rio with Chris Romans officiating. A visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Ohio Cemetery, luncheon to follow.
