Gail Helen (Couper) Reinke, age 78, of Indianapolis, IN and formerly of Reedsburg, WI passed away January 24, 2024. She was born September 24, 1945 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Norman and Edith (Reid) Couper.
Gail graduated in 1963 from Janesville, WI Senior High School and went on to earn her Associates Degree from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She married the love of her life William Robert Reinke on August 8, 1970 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, WI. They were married for 44 wonderful years and during that time created a beautiful family in Reedsburg.
A stranger to no one and proud of her Canadian heritage, Gail was known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to everyone. Always putting the needs of others before her own, she would lend a helping hand to those who needed it. She lived to hear and tell about the exploits of her four grandchildren and sneaking snacks to Maggie and Bo. Gail was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Reedsburg, her strong Christian faith guided her day-to-day life and wanted to make everyone in her life feel special.
Her survivors include her sons, Jeffery William (Stacy Lynette) Reinke of Indianapolis, IN and David Gerald (Michele Lee) Reinke of Malta Bend, MO; grandson Drew William Reinke; granddaughters Caroline Louise Reinke, Savannah Michele Reinke, and Josephine Davine Reinke; special 4-legged grandchildren Maggie and Bo; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. She is was preceded in death by her husband William Robert Reinke; parents Norman and Edith (Reid) Couper; brother David Norman Couper; Father and Mother-in-Law Alvin and Adele (Kapelle) Reinke; Uncle and Aunt William and Laura Couper of Canada, Sister-in-Law Audrey Roedl, and Brother-in-Law Gerald Reinke.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, February 2 at 11:00 AM at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Crolius officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Reedsburg with a luncheon to follow at St. Peter’s. Visitation will be held at the Church at 10 AM until time of service. Visitation will be held at the Grasse Funeral home in Reedsburg on Thursday, February 1 from 4 PM to 7PM. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown, WI.
