Eric Rigsbee Obituary

Eric Douglas Rigsbee, 42, passed away in his home September 11, 2021. He was born June 24, 1979 in Alexandria, Virginia to his parents Cynthia (Haight) and Douglas Rigsbee.

He grew up playing many sports including basketball, football, and soccer. In middle school he found a passion for motocross where he excelled in competitive racing. While attending Edison High School, Eric found a home on the debate team where his keen interest for knowledge and learning was able to flourish. In 1997, during his senior year in high school, he won the individual state championship for debate. Eric continued his academic success at The University of Virginia, where he graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Soon after graduation, he achieved his Professional Engineer (PE) License and began his engineering career. In 2009 his dream of business ownership came true when he opened an office of Construction Insight in the DC area. He loved his work and created a team of talented and committed professionals, bringing energy and focus to make a difference in the world of engineering. Eric was entrepreneurial at a young age. In his third year of college, he started a DJ business on the weekends, which his father became a part of. He continued his DJ business after he graduated from college while launching his first job as an engineer.

Besides his business interests, family was very important. In many ways, he was a big kid. He also was a man of many talents and loved to share those with people around him, especially his family. He spent valuable time with his nieces and nephew, then married and became a father to two beautiful girls, Alayna and Alyssa. His daughters were the highlight of his life. Eric loved to challenge himself. He regularly worked out at CrossFit where he developed a strong passion for physical fitness to become the strongest version of himself. He called CrossFit Old Town a special home and all of the members there became like family to him.

Eric is survived by his loving daughters, Alayna and Alyssa; mother and father, Cynthia and Douglas Rigsbee; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Greg Redden; nieces, Riley and Amber Redden; nephew Joseph Redden; aunts and uncles, Pat Rigsbee, Mark Rigsbee, Candice Haight, Stephen Haight, Joan and Randy Haight, Becky and Bryan Haight, Robert Haight, Carrie and Rich Haight, Gwen and Tom Haight; and many cousins, great aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Melvin and Kathleen Haight, as well as his paternal grandparents, Dr. Albert and Patricia Rigsbee.

Eric’s funeral services will be held at Grasse Funeral Home in Pardeeville, Wisconsin, where he will be buried next to his loving maternal grandparents. In lieu of flowers, his parents have asked that donations be provided to Alcoholics Anonymous in Eric’s memory. Please contact Bruce Burrows at 703-609-0034 for any questions regarding donations.
