Elizabeth Marie Blazek, age 81, passed away Tuesday, January 27 while surrounded by her loving family. 

Elizabeth (Liz) was born on August 26, 1944, in Esslinger, Germany. She was the daughter of Elsie Marie Stakely. Elizabeth came to America to reside in Chicago when she was five years old. 

She married Edward Blazek on August 11, 1961, in Chicago, IL. They moved to Wisconsin in the fall of 1965 with her beloved family. Liz was a stay home mother for 16 years, then ventured off to get her driver’s license, then a job. She enjoyed working at Country Gardens in Poynette, where she and her husband were co-owners. She then worked at Poynette Video for many years, and finished her career at Poynette School District.

Elizabeth was known for her love of plants. She grew all of her own vegetables, cooked, baked, and canned everything she could. She had many, little flower gardens that were meticulously cared for and put together like the design expert she was. Our mother was the kindest, sweetest, person. We will all miss her so much. Elizabeth was known for her love of the children of Poynette, always in the school halls to lend an ear and listen to their stories. Elizabeth was a devoted Catholic and attended church every week. 

Liz is survived by her children, Eddie Jr. of Hazen, AK, Ann Angell of Pardeeville, WI, and Pam Blazek of Poynette, WI. Her grandchildren Beth Angell, Ashley Angell, Lillian Clemens, Jacob Walter, Stephanie Blazek, Joey Blazek, Cody Blazek, Willie Blazek, and Edward Joseph Blazek Jr. Elizabeth is survived by her brother, Robert Smith Sr. and nieces and nephews. Elizabeth also had several great-grandchildren: Brayden, Angel, Isla, Jordan, Jace, Chaz and Sable. 

Elizabeth was preceded in her death by her mother Elsie Stakely, her son Jeffery Blazek and the love of her life, her husband, Edward Blazek. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Poynette with Fath Joji Thirumalareddy officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at Church. Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Poynette.
