Dorothy “Dottie” (Gray, Carney) Ballweg, age 96, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Hamilton Park Place in Portage.  She was born on March 21, 1930, in Pardeeville, Wisconsin, to John and Anne Gray.

She was joined in marriage to Patrick Carney Sr. in 1947 with whom she raised 8 children.  She was later married to Phillip Ballweg in 1975.  Dottie worked hard at numerous jobs her entire life, finally retiring in 1995.   

She is survived by her children, daughters Adelia (Dee) Carney of Poynette and Christeen (Cricket) Carney of Deforest, sons Michael (Linda) Carney of Manchester, Casey (Linda) Carney of Beaver Dam, Jeffrey (Edwin) Roman-Carney of Deforest, George (Sandy) Carney of Madison, and Brien (Shelly) Carney of Edgerton; daughter-in-law Eiko Carney of Madison; sister Joyce Kessenich of Poynette; as well as numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Patrick G. Carney, Sr.; husband Philip Ballweg; son Patrick G. Carney, Jr.; brothers Kenneth, Ralph, Avold, John, William, Roger, and Lavern; and sisters Evelyn, Ruth, Jeanette, and Bertha. 

Dottie will be sorely missed but we are grateful that she is finally at peace. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, Pardeeville- John Henry Newman Parish. (formally St. Faustina) with Rev. Fr. Sanctus K. Ibe officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at Church. Interment will be held at Marcellon Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Hamilton Park Place in Portage, and the staff at Bristol Hospice.
