Donald Roger Sherman, 66 of Arlington, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at his sister’s home. He was born August 23, 1955 in Virginia, Minnesota, the son of James and Ruth Sherman.
Donald was diagnosed with autism when he was very young. He had a lot of challenges throughout life, which led us to believe that he would never live independently. He overcame his challenges and led a life to the fullest. He came to know Jesus as his savior while he was in a special school in Wichita, KS at the age of 11 and from that time he was devout in his faith. Donald’s love of music was the main theme of his life which included classical music and old time hymns. He was an accomplished musician playing the organ and piano. He could play by ear or read music. When growing up, we enjoyed hearing him play the piano as our alarm clock. In his teens, he traveled some with his mother to play at recitals and competitions, He also played trombone in the band while attending high school.
Donald was a hard worker and enjoyed different jobs like making Sterilite containers, delivering car parts, and worked on staff at a boarding school for delinquent teens. Most recently he worked at a cardboard factory in Chippewas Falls. He also was an avid Vikings and Twin Fan.
