Donald Miller Obituary

Donald H. Miller, age 86, of Randolph, passed away February 29, 2024, peacefully at his home. He was born October 23, 1937, the son of Herman L. Miller and Ruth P. (Somerfield) Miller.

He married Darlene E. Bengsch on August 19, 1961. He married Patricia Schmid on June 13, 2020. Don served in the US Navy from 1954 to 1958. He was a member of Laborers Local 464 of Madison for 57 years. He loved “big iron” in any form, such as tractors, farm machinery, railroads, and large construction equipment. The older it was, the more he admired it. Don had the ability to make something out of nothing. He built a working oil pull and early Buick replica car from scratch.

Don was a man who loved his family dearly and was especially fond of his grandchildren. He loved Jesus and spoke of his faith to all who would listen. His testimony was well received by many and demonstrated by the life he lived. His straightforward manner and his generosity were hallmarks of his daily life.

Don is survived by his wife Pat; brother Robert (Shirley) Miller of Fall River, WI; children Ann (Heather) Miller of Beaver Dam, WI, Pam (Kim) Bauer of Wyocena, WI, Fran (Paul) Zielsdorf of Schofield, and Sam Miller of Beaver Dam; grandchildren Breeann and Nathan Bauer, David and Andrew Zielsdorf, Derrick and Donovan Miller, and Jada and Joe Jones, Julianna, Brandon, Christian and Danielle Johnson, Taylor Schmid and Sean Arneson, Eden, Charlie and Mabel Abdiel, Mike Schmid; and great-granddaughter Ophelia Schmid; stepchildren Linda Schmid of Indianapolis, IN, Randy (Jackie) Schmid of Downing, WI, David (Jane) Schmid of Golden, CO, Russ Schmid of Portage, WI, Eileen Schmid of Morrisonville, WI; Debra (Travis) Johnson of Baldwin, WI, and Douglas (Penny) Abdiel of Sydney Australia.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Ruth Miller; his wife of 57 years, Darlene; brother Lloyd Miller; and sisters Norma Hildebrandt and Elaine Biel.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 16 at 11:00 AM at Bedrock Church in Rio. Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM until the time of service.
