Diane J. Grueneberg, 76 of Pardeeville, passed away October 30, 2023. Diane suffered a brain aneurysm while on her way to her great-granddaughter’s basketball game on Saturday. She was surrounded by her family and friends following the medical event. Diane was born May 10, 1947 to Harry and Carol (Maynard) Lueptow. She graduated from Pardeeville High School in 1965. Following high school, Diane worked for many years at the Columbia County Healthcare Center. She retired from Rayovac in Portage.
On June 19, 1965, Diane married her high school sweetheart, Lynn Grueneberg. Lynn and Diane are the proud parents of Carol Jean (Michael) Babcock and Julie Ann Grueneberg. They have four granddaughters: Heather (Matt Weatherwax) Miller, Emily (Chris) Woelfel, Kimberly (Tom) Kehoe, and Sarah Babcock. GG (Great grandmother) absolutely adored her five great grandchildren: Makensey, Kayden, Addison, Vada, and Hunter, along with her grand dog, Millie.
Diane is survived by her sisters Nancy (Robert) Nichols and Kathy (Bud) Lawrence along with her brother Robert Lueptow. She is further survived by her brother-in-law Harold (Sharon) Grueneberg, sister-in-laws Jan Grueneberg and Sally Lueptow, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless lifetime friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lynn (on January 06th, 2023), brother and sister-in-law Dick and Sue Lueptow, brother Steve Lueptow, sister-in-law Lois Grueneberg, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Doris and Tom Sarbacker, and brother-in-law LaVern “Ernie” Grueneberg, her family dog, Babe, and, of course, her second love of her life, Elvis Presley.
Services for Diane will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 12 Noon at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, W8267 STH 33, Portage. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 AM until the time of service at the church Saturday. Private burial will take place at Pardeeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and memorials, the family would appreciate family and friends to register as organ donors at https://health.wisconsin.gov/donorRegistry/public/donate.html With Diane’s passing, 5 families received the Gift of Life.
Diane was a fun-loving gal who was always upbeat and outgoing. Her greatest love was her family and friends. Whether attending a school function, sporting event, Fourth of July celebration, or preparing an oversized home cooked meal, Diane was the happiest. Her home was always open for anyone that needed a meal or a friend to talk to. The passing of GG will leave an enormous void in each of our hearts. Carol and Julie extend their heartfelt appreciation to RN Brittnee, along with the staff at Prairie Ridge Hospital, Columbus, and the staff at the UW Organ and Tissue Donation program, for their compassionate care of our mother. With Diane’s passing, many people in need will benefit from her final gift of giving. Lastly, our family is forever grateful to Elliott and Nina Grasse, Grasse Funeral Service for truly treating us like family.
