Delbert "Deb" A. Langsdorf Obituary
Delbert “Deb” Andrew Langsdorf, age 92, passed away November 30, 2023. Deb was born at the family home in Doylestown, Wisconsin, December 8, 1930, the third son of George Martin and Elizabeth Lillian (Yonkee) Langsdorf. He attended Doylestown Grade School and Rio High School. He served our country in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. Deb married Ellen Roche October 23, 1954. Together, they raised 2 sons and 4 daughters.
Deb had a passion for anything related to mechanics. He could fix just about anything! His occupations through the years included: Winkler's Auto in Portage, his own business “Deb’s Garage” in Otsego, Stainless Tank & Equipment in Cottage Grove, FS in Fall River, subbing for his brothers’ milk hauling routes, and until retirement he owned and operated “Langsdorf Sand & Gravel” in Doylestown. For many years his hobby was racing stock cars, both late-model and midgets. Deb earned “rookie of the year” honors when he raced midgets. He was a local “fan-favorite” driving car #98 and often carried the checkered flag. Watching NASCAR races was a favorite pastime. Deb was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Doylestown where he served on the church council and ushered services. Deb also belonged to the Fall River VFW organization and the Doylestown Fire Department.
Deb is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ellen; his six children, Michael Langsdorf, Patricia (Pat) Bleich, Jeanne Langsdorf, Mary Ann Kranz (Steve), Janet Wiersma, and Robert Langsdorf; grandchildren Danielle Kranz (Craig), Dillon Kranz, Briana (Andrew) Ladwig, Gavin (Kristin) Wiersma, and Jessica Borde; great grandchildren Rylieh Morgan, Oliver Ramig, Kiley Baillies, Maggie & Ashton Ladwig, Caiden & Tegan Wiersma, Eliza & Emilia Iverson, nieces and nephews, as well as sister-in-law, Patricia Huggett.
Deb was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Merlyn and Donald; in-laws Robert & Mary Ellen Roche; brothers-in-law Donald, Eugene, John Roche, LaVern Huggett, Dick Hepp, Bill Hemling; sisters-in-law Alice Hepp, Carol Jean Roche, Donna Roche, Mary “Bert” Hemling, Marion Langsdorf and Betty Langsdorf, nephews Dave & Dan Hemling, and Tom Roche.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Sam & Dr. Rolf Poser for their personal care and support throughout Deb’s life. We are grateful for the kindness, care, and compassion shown to Deb & our family during his short stay with AT HOME AGAIN in Rio. We would also like to acknowledge his recent caregiver, Max, of “Caring4you”, and two nieces Susan Rechek and Mary Martin who provided their assistance and care over the past few years.
Private family funeral services will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Doylestown.
