David “Dave” C Kaun of Portage, WI passed away Monday, December 9, 2024. He will be missed by friends and family. Dave was born January 1, 1955 in Richland Center, WI, son of Lorin and Lorraine (Christian) Kaun. 

He graduated from Weston High School and joined the Marines shortly after graduation in 1974. He spent his early years painting high line poles in the south, repairing vehicles and later running his own construction company with a focus on barn restoration for many years and added a painting business to his portfolio as well. 

He always had a love for Harley Davidson’s and Corvettes and also over the years enjoyed his paraplane, ATV’s and many other vehicles. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Dave was always on the go fixing or building something and from childhood on was always tearing something apart to see how it worked and putting it back together whether it was his toys as a child or later his many vehicles, computers, houses, restoring his pool table or helping others repair something when needed. Dave had a love for animals and had several pets over the years that included a squirrel, several cats and dogs and from time to time the occasional rescued racoon, fawn or other critter that was in need of help. 

Dave is survived by his life partner Sharon Little who has been his continued anchor and support; children Nick Owen, Sarah (Chris) Campbell, Quay (Andy) Wilson, Kyle Pittman and Heather Stuebinger; mother Lorraine Kaun; sister Janet (Allen) Shields; brothers, Gary Kaun and Andy (Kathleen) Kaun; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved dog Max. He was preceded in death by his father Lorin Kaun; grandparents Albert; Hulda (Hartje) Kaun and Edgar; Hulda (Schwanz) Christian; aunts, uncles and several cousins. 

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a gathering at the Grasse Funeral Home in Reedsburg, WI. A visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M until the time of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
