Darwin (Red) Calkins, age 89 of Pardeeville, passed away on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025 at the Wyocena Nursing Home.  He was born in Poynette on September 30th, 1935 to Myron and Viola Calkins (Anderson).

Red married the love of his life Joan Elizabeth Calkins on July 13th 1963. He graduated from Poynette High School , attended Church at St.John's Lutheran in Portage and retired from the railroad. 

Red enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening. He loved to play guitar but most of all he loved spending time with his wife Joan and their family. Especially around the kitchen table during dinner time while they shared a home cooked meal. He sure did love her cooking! 

He is survived by his children, Duwayne Calkins, Scot Scott, Jeff (Therese) Scott, Michael (Catherine) Calkins, Brenda Beckius, Annie Calkins, Michelle (Mickey) Calkins; Grandchildren Jessica, Steven, Michelle, Allisa, Jorden, Carter, Devin, Logan, Christina, Jeremiah, Stacey, Ian, Gabrielle, Amy, Vince and Lucas; Great Grandchildren Vincent, Sophia and Isabella; Along with many other loved family members and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; his wife Joan; his son Darrel; 5 brothers Gary, Marvin, Leon, Danny and Dale; and Nephew Chad.

Darwin (Red) was a loving, caring man that will be missed by many. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Grasse Funeral Home in Pardeeville starting at 12:00 P.M. with Chaplain Fred Schumacher officiating. A visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
