Christina L Robinson Obituary
Christina Lynn Robinson, age 54, of Pardeeville, Wisconsin, passed away May 13, 2025, in Madison, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and beloved teacher, Christie touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her kindness, creativity, and passion for education.
Born on January 22, 1971, in Waverly, Iowa, Christie was the daughter of Joe and Nancy (Smith) Johnson. She grew up in Plainfield, Iowa, where she attended school through the seventh grade before her family relocated to Elma in 1984. She graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco in 1989.
After high school, Christie moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she worked as a nanny for two years. She then returned to Iowa, settling in Mason City. While working at Charlie Brown Day Care, she attended North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), and later earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Buena Vista University in 1996. She graduated with endorsements in Elementary Classroom K-6 and Reading (K–8) with an emphasis in Art—subjects she brought to life in her classrooms for years to come.
Christie began her teaching career as a substitute in the Des Moines area, then moved to Delano, California, in 1997 to teach for three years. She later returned to the Midwest, teaching in the Twin Cities and completing Montessori training in 2004. She then accepted a position in Winona, Minnesota, where she met the love of her life, Rob Robinson. They were married on June 9, 2006.
Christie and Rob made their home together and welcomed their daughter, Elizabeth, on December 23, 2008—a moment that brought Christie her greatest joy. She continued teaching, including time at a Hmong charter school, before moving to Pardeeville, Wisconsin, in 2015. For the past 10 years, she taught in the Portage Community School District, where she was known for her unwavering dedication to her students. To Christie, her classroom was a second home, and her philosophy was simple but heartfelt: “Once my student, always my student.”
Outside the classroom, Christie was a woman of many talents and deep love. She adored attending anything Elizabeth participated in and was her daughter’s biggest cheerleader. She had a true gift in the kitchen—her baking was a favorite among family and friends—and took pride in finding the perfect gift for every loved one. Christie enjoyed music, played the piano, and was a proud clarinet and bass clarinet player in high school. Arts and crafts were another favorite pastime, often shared with her nieces and daughter. She loved her family fiercely and was known as both a great mom and a truly amazing aunt.
One of her favorite memories with Rob was spending a summer traveling with him in his semi-truck—an adventure she treasured.
Christie will be deeply missed by her husband, Rob; her daughter, Elizabeth; her father, Joe Johnson (Charles City, IA); her sister, Laurie (Jay) Field (Charles City, IA); her brother, Dan (Renee) Johnson (Edwardsville, IL); nieces: Ally, Kylie, and Shelby Effle (Charles City, IA), and Gracie and Hope Johnson (Edwardsville, IL); mother-in-law, Judy Robinson; brother-in-law, Chris Robinson; aunt, Norma (Vagn) Pederson (Cedar Falls, IA); and several cousins and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Johnson; brother-in-law, Bryan Effle; maternal grandparents, Carl and Dorothy Smith; and paternal grandparents, Edwin and Florence Johnson.
A celebration of Christie’s life will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Grasse Funeral Home in Pardeeville. Memorials may be directed to the family to support a college savings account for her daughter, Elizabeth.
