Charles W. Heath, age 88, of Rio, passed away peacefully at his family home with his loving life partner and son by his side Thursday, September 5, 2024. He was born July 21, 1936 in Madison, Wi to Walter and Ruth Heath.
Charles had graduated from Madison East School and then bravely joined the Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. He was a steam fitter and also was a welding instructor at MATC. Charles worked for Walgreens Distribution Center for 13 years. He was a part of the VFW and American Legion. Charles had the privilege to fly on the Honor Flight in 2017. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. Charles took many trips to Alaska, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. He loved to travel and spend quality time with his partner Lavonne. “Charlie Brown” loved to socialize with people and always had a positive attitude. If you needed a joke, Charlie was the guy to go to. He will be remembered for his favorite catch phrases “Awesome” and “pray for snow.” He would give you a “Thumbs Up” at any moment. Charlie loved spending his time bird watching and enjoyed being surrounded by the beauty of his land, land that has been in his family for about 200 years.
Charles is survived by his life partner Lavonne Rowley, son Charles V. Heath; grandchildren Ryan Heath and Karli Heath; great grandchild Reggie Heath. He was preceded in death by his son Daniel Heath, sisters Beverly Cunningham and Char Roloff; and his parents Walter and Ruth Heath.
A visitation will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Grasse Funeral Home in Rio. Inurnment will take place at the Ohio Cemetery with a luncheon to follow.
