Beryl Allen Obituary

Beryl Ann (Babcock) Allen, 86, of Pardeeville/ Town of Wyocena, passed away peacefully at the Columbia Healthcare Center on Friday, January 11, 2019, surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 11, 1932 in Roundup, Montana, to Earl and Hazel (Henry) Babcock. She attended grade school In Wyocena and was a graduate of Pardeeville High School. She met her future husband, Orlando Allen, when he came to her family’s farm to thresh crops. They were married on December 26, 1952 when Orlando was home on leave from the Air Force. They built their life together on their farm on East Bush road, where they raised their four daughters.

Beryl proudly worked as a nurse’s aide at the Wyocena Nursing Home for almost 28 years. She was a natural caregiver and strived to treat the residents with compassion and respect. Beryl loved bird watching. She had many bird feeders and enjoyed researching the different types of birds in one of her many bird books. Beryl loved the many pets her family had over the years, most notably her dog, Hotrod; her Pug, Traveler, and her cat Snowball. Beryl enjoyed camping and the road trips taken with family over the years, as well as the many miles her and Orlando traveled on Orlando's trucking trips. They were the owners of Land O’ Goodness Trucking Company for almost 20 years. Beryl had a great sense of humor. An example of this was when people would mispronounce her first name as “Barrel,” she would be quick to jokingly reply, “I may look like a barrel, but my name is Beryl!” Beryl loved her family and always put their needs before hers. She was lovingly referred to as “Granny” by her grandkids and great-grandchildren and she loved spending time with them.

Survivors include her three daughters, Laurie (Richard) Bussian of Columbus, Barb Allen of Pardeeville, Julie (Chris) Duerst of Pardeeville; four grandchildren, Mark, Nathan (Kelli), and Andy (Morgan) Bussian, and Katie Duerst; four great-grandchildren, Garrett and Meredithe Campbell, Brayden Bussian, and Ella Ann Bussian. She is further survived by two sisters; Helen Cook and Alice Wagner; her brother, Morris (Lou Ellyn) Babcock and many nieces, nephews and friends, all whom she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando in 2017; daughter, Annette (Dede) in 2012; her parents and mother-and father-in-law, Mary and Warren Allen.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Grasse Funeral Home, 119 Industrial Drive, Pardeeville, from 1:00 - 3:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to a brief memorial service at 3:30 for reflection and a time of sharing. Per Beryl’s wishes, there will be no funeral. Beryl’s family would like to thank the staff and patients at the Beaver Dam Dialysis Center, her drivers to and from dialysis appointments, the staff and residents at Columbia Healthcare Center, and Joan Killoran for their care and friendship.

“God saw she was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So, He put His arms around her and whispered, “Come with me.” With tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.”  We love you, Granny!
