Beatrice "Bea" Hanson

Beatrice Ann (Dronek) Hanson, age 88 of Rio, passed away May 23, 2023. Bea was born February 19, 1935 in the township of Westford. She was the third born of eight children to Louis and Sarah (Hepp) Dronek.

She graduated from Randolph High School in 1952. She worked for several years as a legal secretary and various part time jobs while raising her family. On November 28, 1964 she was united in marriage to Gregory Hanson. They shared 54 years together until his death in 2019. Together they raised 5 children on the family farm near Otsego. She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful cook/baker; especially her pies and pickles. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her grandchildren who always brought a sparkle to her eye and joy to her heart.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (John) Davis, Brenda (Jay) Dahlen, Jean (Keith) Atkins, Anita (Marty) Dreischmeier and Craig (Donna) Hanson; grandchildren, Nick & Molli Davis, Kylie (Marshall)  & Jordan Dahlen, Savanna (Hunter) & Marissa (Eaden)  Atkins, Hannah (Joe) Fassbender, Emma (Mitch) & Izzy (Alex) Dreischmeier, Aden, Brody and Kolton Hanson. She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia Niehoff and Ethel (Ronald) Herold, sister-in-law Joanne Hanson along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death includes her parents, husband; sisters, Ella (Leonard) Baerwolf and Agnes (Ken) Derrick; brothers, Howard (Joan), Earl (Margaret Ann), and Ray Drzonek; sisters/brothers-in-law, Ray Niehoff, Lorraine (Dave) Bleich, Philip (June) Hanson, Roberta (John) Wright and Elmer Hanson.

Mass of Christian Burial will held Friday, June 2 at 3 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Doylestown. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rio. Visitation will be held from 1 PM until the time of service at the church Friday. Special thanks to the staff of Agrace Hospice care to which we are grateful.
