Avonda E. Giese, age 85 of Verona, passed away March 17, 2024 at Sonrisas Assisted Living. She was born April 11, 1938 in the Reedsburg area, daughter of Reinhard and Emma Meyer.

Avonda married William P. Giese on October 3, 1959 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Reedsburg. She was a graduate of Reedsburg Area High School. She then worked in manufacturing for Industrial Coils. She belonged to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Baraboo. She enjoyed playing a variety of card games, especially Euchre, and board games. 

Survivors include her brother Merlin Meyer of Reedsburg; sister Pearl Wilburn of Reedsburg; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Giese; sisters Ruth (Lawrence) Clark, Adeline (Don) Ewing, and Elsie Berning; brothers Norbert (Lorraine) Meyer and Gerald Meyer.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 22 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Karen Hofstad officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery in North Freedom. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until time of service at church on Friday.
