Algirdas D. Valinskas, 63, of Cambria, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at U.W. Hospital in Madison. Al was born in Chicago to Fabijonas and Ksaverina, immigrants from Lithuania. He had an older brother Fabian, (deceased March 9, 2021) and has an older sister Agatha.
Al attended St. Rita High School in Chicago and excelled in math. He relocated to Wisconsin and attended University of Wisconsin in Madison. Al went on to work for the Department of Transportation in Madison. He married Jamie Kietzke and they had a son Paul completing their family. Al had a love of books and a passion for reading. He especially loved history, non-fiction, and science fiction. Al loved to visit the library and occasionally help to tutor a child. He had a long-time chess game with a friend in New Hampshire. Al had a sense of humor and believed in “Murphy’s Law”. Al was a self-taught handyman with home repairs. He loved his pets, quiet music, especially Enya, Amazing Grace, and Psalm 23. Al was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Al is survived by his son Paul, his sister Agatha, Jamie, (mother of their son Paul), his sister -n-law Angela, his nephews, Fabian and Victor, his niece Dawn, and their families, his cousins Stanley (Vera) Valinskas, Loretta Girdziuniene (in Lithuania), Rimas (Jane) Miecius (in Toronto, Canada), and Jura (Richard) Grauslys (in New Hampshire) and all of their families.
A prayer service will be held Monday, August 2, at 12:30 PM at Grasse Funeral Home in Rio.
